Blue fruit fest

Blue Fruit Fest was a wonderful success, with over 60 people taking farm tours, and 200 people at the Fest. The Forager Brewery provided a delicious black currant brew that was enjoyed by many. The Blue Heron's cheese cake with black currant glaze was a big hit. The Cajolers, our live music for the evening, were lots of fun. Thanks to all who helped make Blue Fruit Fest a success.

If we have Blue Fruit Fest in 2019, it will follow this same format most likely.

Usually people may request individual tours at Blue Fruit Farm by appointment only. BUT July 21, 2018 we are hosting Blue Fruit Fest with farm tours, live music, pizza truck and fun! Tours are scheduled at 3:00, 3:45; and 4:30 pm. Come up the hill on Wiscoy Ridge Rd to Blue Fruit Farm for the Tours. There will be signs and parking at the Farm.  The tour includes fruit tasting, jam and fruit sales, and a walking tour of our 5 acre perennial fruit farm. Things to see: Unusual perennial fruits - black currants, aronia, honeyberries, and juneberries; our extensive pest management program including overhead netting, bird guard, pyramid traps and garlic planting; solar powered shed and irrigation system with rainwater collection.

Following your tour, the Fest is held at Wiscoy Valley Community Land Coop's recreation area located at the bottom of the hill (see the light blue farm house - that is the Wiscoy Community Center), 31783 Bur Oak Lane, Winona. You will see parking signs. Walk on the north side of the red barn, over the bridge and take a left to the recreation area. Bring your own beverages, swimming gear, and clothing for a cool evening in the valley. We usually do not have mosquitoes. PLEASE NO DOGS! We will have a wood-fired pizzas for purchase, and salads and desserts to eat. Swimming and volleyball available. There will be no lifeguard on duty. The swimming pond is spring fed with a shallow area and roped section for small children. All other children need to pass a swimming test to go beyond the rope and must have adult supervision.

The Forager Brewery will be offering samples of fruit beers made with our fruits. The band, The Cajolers, plays music from Tom Petty to the Talking Heads.

The Woodshed Pizza Truck menu includes Margarita ($12), Pepperoni & Artichoke ($12), Sausage ($11), Pepperoni ($11), and Cheese ($10). Sorry, no gluten free pizzas. The salads and desserts from Forage Brewery and Blue Heron Coffeehouse are complimentary. Drinking water is provided. BRING YOUR OWN BEVERAGES.
